Abstract Theorists working within the Frankfurt School tradition of critical theory have not been immune to calls “decolonize” that circulating in and beyond academic world. This article asks what it means seek decolonize a thought has never explicitly acknowledged colonial histories. What is needed, instead, this suggests, consideration very implications “colonial modern”—that is, an acknowledgement constitution modernity—for theory's idea historical progress.
